New Student Convocation – August 22, 2014, 9:30 a.m., Patriot Center
Each year George Mason University welcomes incoming freshmen and transfer students with a day of programming that introduces them to university life. We begin the day with a welcome ceremony in the Patriot Center to introduce the student to their new academic life and what it will mean to be a George Mason University graduate. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and welcome the newest members of the university community.
10:00 a.m. – Undergraduate student ceremony
2:00 p.m. – Graduate (Masters and PhD) student ceremony
George Mason University will hold two ceremonies recognizing graduates on December 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the Patriot Center. These ceremonies are similar to the May college convocations in that all students in attendance will be individually recognized and doctoral students will be hooded. Students and faculty will be in full regalia. There will be light refreshments provided after the ceremony.
These ceremonies are for Summer/August and Winter/December 2014 graduates only. Students will also be invited to attend the commencement ceremony the following May. Colleges and schools may invite these students to attend the individual college convocation ceremonies in May if space permits.
Information on Commencement is available through the Office of Events Management.
