Faculty Enrichment and Support Resources

George Mason University offers multiple resources to enable faculty to pursue ongoing professional development.

The Leadership Legacy Program provides formal coaching to selected faculty and staff to explore what leadership means in the context of a university setting, and how individuals can best meet challenges, manage change, and work effectively in a changing university environment.

Individual academic departments may have formal or informal practices for providing opportunities for mentoring by a senior faculty member.  However, some faculty also wish to work with a mentor from a different department in order to obtain a different perspective. The Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning can assist departments in creating mentoring programs for individual faculty who which to be mentored.

George Mason University is now an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), an organization devoted to professional development, training, and mentoring. Please visit the Compliance, Diversity, and Ethics site for more information about available resources and instructions on how to activate your free sub-account membership.
