One of the most important functions of the Office of the Provost is to ensure that the university’s strategic planning processes are informed by an accurate and detailed understanding of the institution’s students, faculty, degree programs, research, and the external constraints that affect each. Equally important is the ongoing process of evaluating the institution’s progress in meeting the strategic goals, an activity carried out by the Strategic Implementation Committee.
George Mason University is currently operating under the 2009-2014 Strategic Plan. President Àngel Cabrera has initiated a strategic visioning exercise, with the intent of beginning formal preparations for a new strategic plan in the spring of 2013.
