The Special Projects and Summer Term Office manages academic course scheduling for the university for the Summer Term. The office works collaboratively with academic units and the Office of the University Registrar so that George Mason University can offer more than 1,000 courses each summer.
Summer Term courses can be offered in one of the three standard summer sessions, online, or in other flexible formats. Sessions A and C offer courses in a five-week format; Session B offers courses in an eight-week format.
