Overview

To deepen the global mindset of our students, extend faculty reach, and strengthen global connections, Mason’s global efforts focus on:

  • Fostering faculty international research, commitment to teaching and learning, and development programs to support cultural diversity in the classroom
  • Leveraging university partnerships around the world to bring international students to Mason
  • Providing programmatic and transition support for international students, including development of academic language skills
  • Offering a wide range of international experiences for all our students, including study, experiential, and intern-abroad programs

The Mason Korea campus in Songdo is especially important for our internationalization goals, providing a gateway for research and teaching in Asia, and expanding rich opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to study and work abroad.

How We’re Organized

Mason has built a collaborative network designed to coordinate and communicate about the many internationalization efforts happening at the university. The following two groups engage a broad cross-section of the university to facilitate Mason's global learning, teaching, research, and engagement.

Global Assembly
The Global Assembly is designed to help internal stakeholders stay informed, understand challenges, and identify resources and opportunities that facilitate university-wide internationalization strategies.

Global Operations Team
The Global Operations Team coordinates knowledge about Mason’s global footprint within a decentralized context. The Team directs and advises the university community on globally-focused services and policies.

In 2019, the Mason International Collaborative (MIC) was formed to review the current state of internationalization at Mason, frame conversations on internationalization for the Mason community, and propose recommendations for future growth.
