Global Engagement

As the central international coordinating group, Mason’s Global Assembly drives the university’s global strategy and connects faculty and staff with the resources and expertise needed for personal and professional success.

Overview

Led by the Office of the Provost, the Global Assembly includes a variety of units that facilitate Mason's global learning, teaching, research, and engagement.

To deepen the global mindset of George Mason University students and extend faculty reach, Mason is focused on creating learning opportunities that increase knowledge and strengthen global connections through:

  • Collaborations with international institutions
  • Programmatic and transition support for international students
  • Study and intern-abroad programs
  • Faculty educational development programs to support cultural diversity in the classroom
  • Teaching, research and scholarship examining the intersection of higher education and global issues

Governance

The Global Assembly is designed to help all stakeholders who work with international students, faculty and staff stay informed about opportunities and resources that help to facilitate university-wide internationalization strategies. The Assembly also serves as a place to understand challenges, concerns, and opportunities for the units that work with international mobility issues.

Working in tandem with the Global Assembly, the Global Operations Team collects, disseminates, shares and receives information with the goal of coordinating knowledge of Mason’s global footprint within a decentralized organization. The Team directs, advises, and counsels the University community on globally focused/relevant opportunities, resources, services and policies.
