About Us

Academic Affairs provides leadership, support, and guidance for all academic programs and initiatives at George Mason University. We ensure the quality and integrity of curriculum and provide leadership for the implementation of strategic initiatives including online courses and programs, global education and international programs, and transfer initiatives. In addition, we develop and implement policies and procedures that support students, faculty, and staff.

How We Support Students

  • Offer holistic support for graduate students 
  • Enable immersive education for undergraduate students through internships, fieldwork, research, and service learning
  • Ensure all academic programs maintain high standards of excellence and that students receive a quality education

How We Support Faculty

  • Work with faculty to develop and review curriculum 
  • Provide guidance on academic program development 
  • Review course proposals 
  • Ensure that academic programs are aligned with Mason’s mission and goals  
  • Collaborate with faculty to prepare for accreditation reviews and ensure that academic programs meet or exceed the standards required for accreditation
