Modifying existing or creating new academic programming often requires SCHEV and SACSCOC pre-approval.
At Mason, university-level academic affairs are managed within the Office of Academic Initiatives and Services. This office provides support and guidance for the following:
- Academic Program Development/Modification (SCHEV)
- Accreditation
- State Authorizations/NC-SARA
- Professional Licensure/Certifications
- Agreements and MOUs
Academic affairs works in collaboration with other areas in the Office of the Provost, including:
- University Registrar
- Undergraduate Education
- Graduate Education
- Faculty Affairs
- Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning
