SCHEV Program Approvals
State Academic Program Oversight (SCHEV)
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is Virginia’s managing body for higher education policy. The Office of Accreditation and Program Integrity serves as a liaison to SCHEV and a resource for the university community.
The Office of Accreditation and Program Integrity (OAPI) provides support for all academic program matters that require SCHEV notification or approval, as well as policy guidance.
Typical actions requiring SCHEV approval include:
- Establishing or closing an academic program
- Name or CIP code changes
- Opening, merging or closing academic departments or colleges
- Altering programs, e.g, changing delivery format or the number of credits required
