New Adjunct Faculty Orientation

The Office of the Provost has partnered with the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning and Human Resources & Payroll to host Mason’s biannual New Adjunct Faculty Orientation. This orientation has been developed to support new adjunct faculty in your transition to Mason. The morning session will provide a broad overview to working at Mason and the bare essentials for teaching and learning, in addition to the Resource Fair. The afternoon sessions offer opportunities for extended conversations about our Mason students and engaging students in your courses, in addition to hands-on time to work on your course(s) in Blackboard and to complete your FERPA (Federal Educational Right to Privacy) training onsite.

We also invite you to visit Mason’s Adjunct Faculty Commons, our online resource guide for all adjunct faculty.

The fall 2017 New Adjunct Faculty Orientation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

Registration is required and restricted to new adjunct faculty members. Registration information will be forthcoming from the Human Resource (HR) liaison in your home department.

PLEASE NOTE: Lunch is only available to those participating for the entire day. If you plan to stay for the full day, and you are encouraged to do so, then please make sure to register for both sessions.

Check-in will begin at 9:00am in the first floor of Alan and Sally Merten Hall.

Free parking is available on Levels 1 and 2 of the Rappahannock River Parking Deck. Please do not park in the visitor parking section.

Of Note

We will provide breakfast and – for those who register for the afternoon workshops – lunch for participants. If you are staying for the afternoon we ask that you please bring your laptop, as the afternoon Blackboard sessions will be hands on.
