SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Award

Sponsored by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), the Outstanding Faculty Awards recognize and reward excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and public service among Virginia institutions. It is the highest honor presented to college and university faculty in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Application or Nomination Criteria:
To nominate a faculty member, please write a brief letter explaining why the person is competitive for the award. The nomination process is managed by Kim Eby, Associate Provost for Faculty Development.

Decision Making Criteria
Nominees must possess a superior record of accomplishments that reflects strongly the mission of the institution. Evidence of superior accomplishment in each of four areas of scholarly endeavor are required:
• Teaching
• Discovery
• Integration of Knowledge
• Service

Composition of Review Team
The review team consists of faculty and administrative representatives, including prior SCHEV award winners.
