New Policy for I/R Faculty on Conflict of Commitment Announced

Body

Mason’s new policy for Instructional/Research (I/R) faculty on conflict of commitment, University Policy 4021: Outside Professional Activities and Conflict of Commitment, took effect on September 1. This policy and disclosure process are intended to comply with new federal regulations expanding disclosure and reporting requirements for outside activities.

I/R faculty recently received an email with details about the reporting requirements for outside professional activities (activities related to one’s professional expertise undertaken outside of Mason). Activity disclosures and prior approval requests should be made through the RAMP Conflict of Interest (COI) system. Colleges and schools have the opportunity to develop their own procedures documents for this policy which are specific to their disciplines. This effort is ongoing during the fall.

Training on the RAMP COI system is available in MasonLEAPS. There is also specific guidance detailing how to update disclosure profiles. Email questions to rampcoi@gmu.edu.
