Body

George Mason University continues to be a leader in producing qualified graduates at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Data compiled by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning (OIEP) shows the university conferred a total of 9,925 degrees during the 2022-23 academic year. Of the degrees conferred, 33% were in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields, with another 9% in health professions. Mason continues to serve the needs of the Commonwealth, as 75% of the degrees conferred were to Virginia residents.

degrees conferred: 6057 Bachelors degrees, 3,384 Masters degrees, 324 Doctoral degreees, 160 First professional Law degrees

The median salary of a Mason bachelor’s degree recipient is approximately $43,000 one year after graduating, nearly doubling to over $80,000 ten years post-graduation. The Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) dashboard, linked through the OIEP Mason Outcomes webpage, is produced by the U.S. Census Bureau. Degree recipient data is linked to the Bureau’s Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics database which provides information for over 96% of employment in the United States. Users can disaggregate by degree level and discipline to see 1-, 5- and 10-year post-graduation wage data, as well as industries in which graduates are employed. Information from the PSEO will be different from other sources for a variety of reasons:

  • The College Scorecard (U.S. Department of Education) limits reporting to students who received federal financial aid.
  • The SCHEV Post-Completion Wages report is limited to graduates who work in Virginia.
  • The Mason Career Plans Survey relies on self-reported data (about 5% of graduates report salary information).
