Did you know...? DFW analytics drive interventions and propel student success at Mason

Body

DFW analyses, which show how many students enrolled within a course receive a final grade of “D” or “F” or withdrew, are helpful in understanding where students may be experiencing trouble in completing their degree requirements because they are a leading indicator of larger measures of student success (e.g., retention and graduation rates).

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning (OIEP) monitors DFW counts and rates for every course. Available for campus use and exploration within a dynamic dashboard, users can filter several variables, including instructional mode (e.g., face-to-face or online).

Stakeholders on campus, from individual faculty to campus leadership, partner with OIEP to identify high DFW rates. Once identified, interventions (such as student support services or curricular refinements) can be implemented to enable greater student success and remove roadblocks to successful retention and completion. Search the DFW dashboard.

Note: This dashboard is only accessible from the Mason network. Individuals off campus will need to use VPN to view.
